I am very pleased and excited that Ted has begun the “Inside Lowell” blog. His knowledge of Lowell politics and issues is unparalleled. He loves the city deeply, and whether you agree with him or not, you can’t argue his passion for the city. He’s also a very strong advocate of local law enforcement. Upon my ascension to the position of Superintendent of the Lowell Police Department, we immediately began a partnership where each and every week, myself or another Command Staff officer, would appear at the WCAP radio station studio, or call in by phone, and engage the citizens of Lowell in frank conversations about issues affecting the city’s neighborhoods. This collaboration enhanced the community policing efforts of the Lowell Police Department and created the opportunity for the citizens of Lowell to speak directly with their police chief. I will always be grateful for Ted’s work on behalf of the Lowell Police Department.

Also, catching up on some Dracut mtgs., specifically the June 9, 2026 Board of Selectmen mtg. I have to say I felt bad for Town Manager Kate Hodges. Why, because newly elected selectwoman member Kristie Wohlander has really “come out of the gate running”. Thats great, but please be mindful that is a massive and extreme amount of report requests, which takes precious time away from her job, plus the ongoing budget pressures she is dealing with as a result of extreme budget constraints, and thats a really heavy lift! She is trying to keep the town afloat. Plus, you risk bluring into administrative interference which is strictly addressed in the town charter. A formal vote should also have been taken. I also felt the frustration of Assistant Town Manager Alison Manugian. The talk is ALWAYS about economic development and bringing in new businesses yet as she stated, the town makes it so very hard for new businesses by making the process long and having them jump through so many hoops instead of streamlining the process and making it more welcoming! Dracut is “chasing its tail”!
